Our creative director David Pan was among the speakers at the 2020 Tainan Design Week PechaKucha night, with the theme “The future is now” focusing on how modern design, sustainability is impacting the life in the city, and with regards to the future, taking into consideration food, lifestyle, living, education and entertainment, and in role with SDG’s goal of harmony between people, planet, commerce, peace and equality as set by the United Nations.
David was very excited for the opportunity to reflect on the work on suitability and social enterprise. From realizing that the waste we create as designers, to trying to tackle the issues through the projects we embarked, starting with Matthew’s Choice, building a brand with sustainability as one of the brand pillars, and creating the iF design winning sustainable packaging design solution, to working with DOMI to become Taiwan’s first certified B-corp (benefit corporation) social enterprise. How excited he was to be able to tackle circular economy with ECOCO’s business model, branding and the design of its highly noticeable RVM (reverse vending machine). It was a great treat to share the stage with the founder of ECOCO Andrew Lee, who was also s guest speaker at the event.
According to the PecaKucha’s official website, “The PechaKucha 20×20 presentation format is a slide show of 20 images, each auto-advancing after 20 seconds. It’s non-stop and you’ve got 400 seconds to tell your story, with visuals guiding the way. PechaKucha was created in Japan in 2003 by renowned architechts, Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham. The word “PechaKucha” is Japanese for “chit chat.””
2020台南設計週策展人主題「 明日如常 The Future is Now 」，以當代設計面對永續環保、強調臺南特色與擘畫未來城市生活型態、探索設計如何運用在日常生活中的食、衣、住、行、育、樂等各項議題，緊扣聯合國永續發展目標 SDGs，體現人類、地球、繁榮、和平與合作。
好點子創意群的創意總監David潘為很開心也可以受邀，分享好點子在永續環保領域的一些經驗，從Matthew’s choice馬修嚴選榮獲德國iF設計獎的環保包裝思維與設計，到台灣第一家拿到B型企業認證的社會企業DOMI綠然能源，接著有機會參與ECOCO循環經濟的品牌規劃與機台設計，在這個過程當中所學的與心得，特別開心是，ECOCO的創辦人Andrew Lee也有受邀分享，可以一起在我們所愛的台南參與PKN的分享，真是很開心。這也是David第二次受邀PKN的分享。
什麼是Peca Kucha（設計師交流之夜），根據維基百科「是一種演講形式，該演講規定使用20張演示文稿，並用20秒講述一張的時間完成（即共6分40秒的演講時間），旨在保證演講內容簡潔和快節奏的演講形式。」David在上台時有分享，對於一個很愛說話的人來說，要在這麼短的時間說完，真的是很大的一個挑戰。
